Catch Problems Early
Small cavities and developmental issues are far easier to treat when they are found early. Routine exams and digital X-rays allow our team to spot concerns before they become bigger, more expensive problems.

Starting your child's dental care early is one of the most powerful things you can do for their long-term health. At Kids Tooth Team Michigan, our preventive services are designed to stop problems before they start, build positive habits young, and keep smiles healthy from the first tooth through the teenage years. We serve families across Lake Orion, Fenton, and the surrounding communities of Oakland and Genesee counties.

At Kids Tooth Team Michigan, prevention means more than a cleaning every six months. It means finding problems before they have a chance to grow.
That's why every comprehensive exam at our offices is supported by Overjet, an FDA-cleared artificial intelligence system that works alongside our doctors during X-ray review to detect the earliest signs of cavities and gum concerns, often before they're visible to the naked eye, and earlier detection means earlier action. When we can identify a cavity at its smallest stage, we can treat it with less intervention, preserve more of your child's natural tooth structure, and avoid the more involved procedures that come with waiting. That's what truly preventive care looks like.
Families across Southeast Michigan can feel confident knowing their child's visit is backed by one of the most advanced diagnostic tools available in pediatric dentistry today. Kids Tooth Team Michigan is proud to be among a select group of pediatric practices in the stat

Kids who visit the dentist regularly from a young age grow up with a positive relationship with dental care. We use every appointment to reinforce brushing and flossing techniques in a way that is age-appropriate and fun.
Primary teeth guide the development of permanent teeth, maintain proper spacing, and support speech and eating. Keeping baby teeth healthy is essential to setting up a strong foundation for your child's adult smile.
Preventive visits typically take 30 to 45 minutes and cost far less than restorative treatment. Catching a cavity early means a simple filling rather than a crown, and a healthy mouth means fewer unexpected visits.
We use tooth-colored composite resin fillings and white zirconia crowns at our Michigan offices. No silver fillings, no metal crowns that stand out in a child's smile. Our materials are durable, biocompatible, and designed to look completely natural.

Every six months, your child will visit our office for a professional cleaning and a comprehensive exam. We gently remove plaque and tartar buildup, then one of our board-certified pediatric dentists performs a thorough exam of the teeth, gums, tongue, and bite. Each visit includes digital X-rays as needed and an oral cancer screening. If any concerns are found, we walk you through the findings and all treatment options in plain language before any next steps are taken.
Fluoride strengthens enamel and helps reverse the earliest stages of tooth decay. At Kids Tooth Team Michigan, we offer both traditional fluoride varnish applied at the end of a cleaning appointment and silver diamine fluoride (SDF) for cases where a minimally invasive approach is preferred. SDF is particularly helpful for very young patients or children who need more time before tolerating other treatment options. Both can be applied in minutes and provide months of protection.
Sealants are thin protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth, where cavities are most likely to form. After the tooth surface is cleaned, we paint on a clear resin material and harden it with a UV light. The process takes just a few minutes per tooth and provides a strong barrier against decay for up to ten years when maintained properly. Sealants are one of the most cost-effective preventive treatments available for school-aged children.
If your child loses a baby tooth early due to decay or injury, a space maintainer preserves the gap so surrounding teeth do not drift and block the permanent tooth from erupting in the right position. We fit and monitor space maintainers to support proper oral development and reduce the likelihood of orthodontic complications later.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends every child establish a dental home by age one. A consistent dental home means our team can track your child's growth and development over time, provide personalized guidance at every stage, and build the kind of trust that makes dental visits easy rather than stressful. At Kids Tooth Team Michigan, we are that home for families across Southeast Michigan.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends scheduling your child's first appointment by their first birthday or within three months of their first tooth erupting, whichever comes first. Starting early helps establish positive associations with dental care and allows us to monitor development from the beginning.
Most children should visit every six months for a cleaning and exam. Some kids with a higher risk of cavities or ongoing developmental monitoring may benefit from more frequent visits. Our team will let you know what schedule makes the most sense for your child.
Yes. We use digital X-rays, which emit a very small fraction of the radiation of traditional film X-rays. We follow the AAPD guidelines for X-ray frequency and only take them when clinically necessary.
Silver diamine fluoride is a liquid treatment applied directly to a cavity to stop its progression without drilling. It is a great option for very young children, children with dental anxiety, or situations where a more involved procedure is not yet appropriate. It does cause the treated area to darken, which is permanent unless covered with a filling later.
Sealants are most commonly recommended for permanent molars as soon as they erupt, typically around ages six and twelve. They are not necessary for every child, but for kids who are prone to cavities or have deep grooves in their molars, they are one of the most effective protective measures available.
Brush twice daily with a fluoride toothpaste appropriate for your child's age, floss once a day, and limit sugary snacks and drinks. Starting good habits early makes the biggest difference, and our team is always happy to give you specific guidance at your child's appointments.
